The first Creemore Community Christmas Dinner was held in 2001, and has been offered almost every year since thanks to the dedication of our fantastic Friends and Volunteers. The first dinner seated 15 people, while 2014’s welcomed 141. Last year’s gathering in 2023 provided 49 dine-in meals and 41 take-out dinners.
This year our Christmas Dinner (2024) is being served on December 25th around 5pm. Doors open at 4pm. All are welcome regardless of age or personal circumstance. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has a little bit of Christmas.
The Creemore Community Christmas Dinner attracts a wide array of people – volunteers who love to cook and others who love to decorate; empty-nesters whose children are away; grandparents whose family gatherings are on another day; people new to town; families that need greater table space; people who simply enjoy being with their neighbours on a festive occasion. All are welcome.
Register before December 14th to reserve a place setting and to assist with food estimates. Later registrations will be accepted as we try to accommodate everyone. Also, if you want to help with food preparation or delivery, do not hesitate to volunteer.
Dinner will be offered from the Royal Canadian Legion, Creemore Branch 397 at 27 Wellington Street West in Creemore, Ontario, Canada.
We are accepting non-perishable food item donations for the Creemore Community Food Bank. If possible, please think of others on this wonderful day.
We will also be accepting pay-what-you-can (PWYC) donations at the dinner to help cover the costs. While the kitchen and venue is donated by the Legion, and much of the food is contributed by our wonderful community members and friends, there are still costs incurred.
Volunteers will be happy to deliver a hot Christmas meal to any in the Creemore/Avening area who may be shut-in due to illness, disability or other situation. Volunteers will also be available to assist those in need of transportation to/from the hall. Simply ask when you register.
